Welcome to The Bowes Museum, founded by John & Josephine Bowes in the 19th Century. Whether you are a returning visitor or new to the Museum, we hope you will be impressed with the recently completed £12m transformation. The new suite of picture galleries is among the best in the UK, as is the stunning Fashion & Textile Gallery. We also run a wide range of events and family activities throughout the year, to complement our diverse exhibition programme.
