Sherborne Castle
Sherborne, Dorset
Built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594 and home to the Digby family since 1617, the house gained its familiar H-shape in the 1620s with further modernization and a Georgian extension added in the 18th century. The Castle's state rooms reflect a glorious variety of decorative styles, with splendid collections of art, furniture and porcelain, whilst the cellars display Raleigh's original Tudor kitchen and a collection of finds from the Old Castle and grounds. 30-acres of beautiful lakeside Gardens with sweeping lawns, borders and magnificent specimen trees extend around 'Capability' Brown's 50-acre lake in one of his finest lakeland landscapes.
Tea Room
Occupying the former nursery building, the Tea Room serves morning coffees, light lunches and delicious afternoon teas; enjoy them in the gardens when the weather’s fine.
Gift Shop
Also in the Castle Courtyard is the Gift Shop, with its selection of gifts, souvenirs and Sherborne Castle wine.
