Burton Constable Hall - 2012 leaflet
Skirlaugh
Burton Constable Hall is set in 300 acres of natural parkland landscaped by Capability Brown and has been the home of the Constable family for over 400 years. This truly hidden gem offers unrivalled access to more than 30 rooms and its interiors of faded grandeur are filled with collections of exquisite furniture, paintings and sculpture, a library of 5,000 books and a remarkable 18th century ‘cabinet of curiosities', which contains fossils, natural history specimens and the most important collection of scientific instruments to be found in any country house.
Our Tea Room is open from 11am serving morning coffees, light lunches and delicious afternoon teas all freshly prepared and baked on the premises or you could bring your own picnic and relax on the lawns and play draughts or croquet by the Orangery. The more energetic could use our outdoor trails to explore our magnificent parkland, pastures and wildfowl lakes.
