Blenheim Palace is home to the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Situated in the heart of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, England, the Palace is surrounded by 2,100 acres of 'Capability' Brown landscaped Park and Formal Gardens.Conceived in 1705 by Sir John Vanbrugh, the Palace is a masterpiece of English Baroque architecture. From the vastness of the Great Hall to the intricate detailing in the State Rooms, the Palace interiors beautifully balance the delicate with the awe-inspiring. Guided tours run throughout most of the season, with enlightening facts on the people, history and events that shaped the Palace.
The State Rooms are graced with priceless portraits, exquisite porcelain and magnificent tapestries. A permanent visitor experience 'Blenheim Palace: The Untold Story' is open inside the Palace bringing to life enticing tales of the last 300 years at Blenheim Palace, seen through the eyes of the household staff. Two exhibitions exploring the life and achievements of Sir Winton Churchill and his ancestor the 1st Duke of Marlborough are also available.
The splendour and tranquillity of the landscaped parkland and the Formal Gardens is unrivalled in Britain. From the Secret Garden, Water Terraces and Rose Garden to the Grand Cascade and lake, there is beauty in all seasons. A new audio Garden Tour is available, and Special Garden Tours are available for groups. A miniature train takes you to the Pleasure Gardens which includes the Marlborough Maze, Adventure Playground, giant chess and the Butterfly House.
