The National Mining Museum Scotland is a 5 STAR visitor attraction housed in the wonderfully restored Lady Victoria Colliery, the finest surviving Victorian colliery in Europe and the only A-listed colliery buildings in Scotland. The National mining museum Scotland is a Recognised Collection of National Significance.
Your experience begins with coal’s creation in the Carboniferous period 360 million years ago and follows human efforts to extract it from the earth from the 13th century through to modern times.
